ஆட்டிசம் குறைபாடு

Autism, catching it early makes a huge difference. The younger your child, the greater the impact of treatment on symptoms of autism and other developmental problems. So watching for warning signs in babies and toddlers is vital.

    * அடம் பிடித்தல்.

Herbal Remedies,: Breast Mass, Surgery Video

???? ????? : ???????? ???????? ????? ?????, ???? ???, ????? ?????, ?????? ??????

At times you may experience tenderness in one or both breasts, or you may detect a mass. Unfortunately, Hispanic women are among the least likely to have a mammogram.

Breast Mass Considerations

There are many possible causes for breast Mass. For example, hormonal fluctuations related to menstruation or pregnancy are often responsible for breast tenderness. Some degree of swelling and tenderness just before your period is normal. The question is how tolerable  the discomfort is to you.

                            Breast Mass Surgery

           ?????? Mass,: ?????? ????? ???????? ???????

Breast Mass Common Causes

Some degree of breast tenderness is normal, caused by hormonal fluctuations from:

Menstruation

Pregnancy -- tends to be more common during the first trimester and pregnancy at a young age

Puberty -- in both girls and boys

Breast feeding

Approach of menopause (once your menstrual periods have stopped completely, breast tenderness often goes away unless you are taking hormone replacement therapy)

Soon after childbirth, your breasts may become engorged with milk. This can be very painful and is usually accompanied by swelling. If you also have an area of redness, call your health care provider.

Other common causes of breast pain include:

Fibrocystic breast changes

Mastitis -- a blocked and infected milk duct that may have some redness, usually associated with breastfeeding

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)

Alcoholism with liver damage

Injury

Certain medications may also cause breast mass, including digitalis preparations, aldomet, aldactone and other potassium-sparing diuretics, anadrol, and chlorpromazine.

Shingles can lead to mass felt in the breast if the painful blistering rash appears on the skin over one of your breasts.

Breast Mass Prevention

Wear a well-fitting brassiere for support, especially if your breasts are large.

Perform a monthly breast self-exam 3-5 days after your period (when the breast tissue is the least tender). This is important to feel for any changes in your breast tissue. If you detect any change from the previous month, it is important to notify your doctor.

Vitamin Treatment for Breast Mass

  • Pyridoxine or Vitamin B6: One of the important B-complex vitamins, B6, can check formation of cyst in the breast. This can help in treating breast tenderness or lumps associated with premenstrual syndrome (PMS). One can get vitamin B6 from banana, calf's liver, fish (salmon, halibut), brown rice, etc.
  • Vitamin C: Two recent studies have found that dietary intake of vitamin C may reduce the risk of breast cancer in certain subgroups. You can get vitamin C from orange, lemon, guava, blackcurrant, strawberry, broccoli, tomato, rose hip extracts, etc.
  • Vitamin E: It is suggested that by controlling estrogen level vitamin E can check formation of nodules in the breast, thereby treating lumpy breasts. One can source vitamin E from papaya, olives, raw sunflower seeds, blueberries, etc.

Acupuncture Therapy for Breast Mass

Acupuncture or needle prick is suggested to stimulate the large nerve fibers in preventing transmission of pain sensation. This may alleviate pain associated with formation of lumps in the breasts.

Heart Burn Natural Remedies, Video, Pictures

Remedy for Heartburn

Drink Lots of Water

At the first signs of heartburn, drink a big glass of water. Many times this helps because it pushes the stomach acid out of the esophagus and back into the stomach, where it belongs.

Reduce Consumption of Acidic Foods

  • Stomach acid increases when a person consumes too much acid-forming food. Try to avoid regular consumption of caffeinated beverages, dairy foods, fried foods, sugar, and processed foods. Milk may seem like a "soothing" type of drink for heartburn, but it is very acidic to your body.

Increase Consumption of Alkaline Foods

  • Stomach acid decreases when a person consumes food that is non-acidic, or alkaline, in its content. Try eating more foods like raw vegetables and fruits.

Try Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Instead of reaching for that Tums or Rolaids, try a tablespoon of (preferably organic) raw apple cider vinegar mixed with a glass of water. This can be taken before or during a meal. The acid in the vinegar converts to a base, or an alkaline, and reduces the stomach acid.

Eat Smaller, More Frequent Meals

  • Eating large quantities of food at one sitting can greatly increase your stomach's acid volume. The more food present to digest, the more acid is needed to break it down. Eat smaller meals throughout the day, or "graze." This will help minimize the production of stomach acid.

Breast Lumps : Herbal Remedies

Noduli al seno Rimedi erboristici, ???? ?????? ?????? ??????, ?????? ??????? ???????? ?????? ????????

Understanding Breast Lumps

Breast lumps are unusual clumps, bumps, bulges, mounds or masses of tissue located anywhere in one or both breasts, even in the tissue that extends up towards the region under the arm, known as the axilla.

The look and feel of breast lumps vary by:

  • Size - pea-size to plum-size or larger
  • Shape - may be round with regular, smooth borders or have an irregular shape with ill-defined borders
  • Feel - may be painless or painful to touch
  • Location - can be densely attached and fixed to the underlying chest wall or can be mobile and more superficial towards the surface of the skin
  • Color/texture - puckering, dimpling, or unusually pink or red appearance of skin around the lump.

Keep in mind, breast tissue changes throughout a woman's life cycle, so that what is normal for your breasts will vary with age and phase of life, and with menstrual cycle as hormone levels vary with time of month, or may be affected by medications such as birth-control hormones or menopausal-hormone supplements

Excisional biopsy is surgically removing the entire lump. Small lumps are usually removed this way by a breast surgeon as an outpatient or day-surgery procedure.

Incisional biopsy is surgically removing a small sample or piece of the lump. Large lumps are usually sampled this way, also as an outpatient or day-surgery procedure by a breast surgeon.

Needle biopsy is when a needle is inserted into a lump and material is withdrawn with suction from a syringe. The needle can be a fine needle (very thin), or can be a core needle, a larger needle with a cutting edge to remove a nugget of tissue.

Localization biopsy is when a mammogram, ultrasound, or three-dimensional X-ray is used to help identify the precise location of a lump, usually when the lump is too small or situated too deeply in the breast tissue to feel through the skin.

Removing a sample and thoroughly examining this breast-lump tissue is the only sure way to know if a breast lump, especially a solid breast lump, is cancer.?????? ??????????? ????????????

Breast Hurt, ????????, ?????? ?????

Herbal Remedies: Breast Hurt

Any change in your breast, either in appearance, feeling or skin texture should be cause for concern - not cause for panic certainly but neither should it be overlooked. Nancy was right to insist that her doctor send her for a mammogram. The lump in my breast was only painless once it was large enough to be stage III. This may be the first time you read this, but pain can definitely be a symptom of breast cancer, take it from someone with first-hand knowledge.

Does Breast Hurt?

A pain in the breast will cause most women a lot of anxiety over breast cancer, and with good reason. Breast cancer is the sixth-leading cause of all deaths for women in the United States. And only lung cancer causes more cancer deaths in women. In 2007, 178,480 women were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and 40,460 women died of the disease.

But the fact of the matter is that breast cancer normally does not cause any pain. There usually aren't any breast cancer symptoms that would call attention to a tumor, particularly early on. But women with early breast cancer might find:

  • A lump in the breast or armpit that doesn't hurt but is hard and has uneven edges.
  • A change in the appearance or feel of a breast or nipple, including such occurrences as redness, dimpling, or puckering.
  • A discharge of fluid from the nipple that could be either bloody or pus-like.

Medical experts believe the reason early breast cancer doesn't hurt is because "it grows so slowly and insidiously without disturbing the nerve fibers," Dr. Russell says. Advanced breast cancer symptoms include skin ulcers, swelling in the arm nearest the cancerous breast, and weight loss.

Herbal Remedies:

Evening primrose oil  is very useful in easing breast tenderness. The essential fatty acid ( EFA ) present lessens the pain.

Vitex if taken in daily dosage of 30 to 40 mg may help in minimizing cramping, headaches and breast tenderness. Vitamin E is very useful in relieving breast tenderness and trouble from fibrocystic breasts. Another way is to cover your breasts with raw cabbage leafs to alleviate pain from tender swollen breasts.

Soya products contain isoflavones which lessen breast tenderness. Include soy food such as soybeans, soy milk, soy burgers and other soy products in your diet.

Cutting down on your salt intake will help reduce water retention which in turn relieves pain. Avoid caffeine in any form as it contains methylxanthine that stimulates breast tissue and causes pain. Drink herbal tea made from Corn silk, Buchu or Uva ursi. These act like mild diuretics which flush out some fluid that causebreast problem.

Breast Lumps: Home Remedies, ????? ?? Lumps : ??? ????

???? ?? ????: ????? ?????, ???? ???????: ??? ???????

Between 80 to 85 percent of all breast nodules are benign, and it is particularly likely that breast lumps in women younger than 30 years old will be benign.

A lump that is hard, immovable, or feels attached to the chest wall, with or without pain, possibly with dimpling or puckering of the breast, must be regarded as breast cancer until proven otherwise.

Some women experience nodularity of the breasts immediately preceding or during a menstrual period. A certain amount of nodularity in breast tissue is normal, but new nodules require prompt evaluation by a doctor. Nine out of ten breast lumps are benign and not cancer.

The most common breast condition many women experience once they have begun to menstruate is monthly swelling and sometimes painful tenderness preceding a period. This is not dangerous, and no treatment is necessary if the discomfort can be tolerated.

Each monthly cycle is associated with hormonal changes, including increases in oestrogen and progesterone, that bring more fluid into the breasts, expanding tissue, stretching nerve fibres, and sometimes producing pain. Symptoms usually subside near the end of the period. Some women experience a similar condition as a side-effect of birth-control pills or hormonal replacement therapy

..

Home treatment

For pain relief, heat can be applied with a heating pad or hot-water bottle for 20 to 30 minutes. If one uses a heating pad, it is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and do not fall asleep while using it.

Some doctors recommend eliminating caffeine to shrink breast cysts, but this has not been proven. Several studies have suggested (although none has proved) a link between dietary fat - especially saturated fat - and benign nodules, as well as breast cancer. Limiting fat may help shrink or eliminate nodules.

To prevent and treat monthly breast swelling, a change in diet may help. The doctor may recommend to maintain a healthy weight and to eat a balanced diet as good preventive measures. Because salt can contribute to fluid retention and thus worsen symptoms, salt intake should be restricted close to the menstrual period.

Other foods to consider avoiding in excess are sugar and alcohol. Furthermore, doctors may suggest wearing a bra, even 24 hours round the clock, to reduce breast movement and lessen the discomfort until the tenderness has passed.

Fibrocystic ????????, ???????????????? ????, fibroqustica de la mama

Fibrocystic breast: ?????????? ???? ????????? ????? ??????????? ????? ??????? ??????

50 percent of women between the ages of 30-50 years old have fibrocystic lumps in their breast. Some can mast breast cancer.

Normally the fluids in the breast are transported out by the lymphatic system. But if there is too much fluid some may get deposited in different areas of the breast, tissue grows around them creating these lumps. Like we said before these cysts are harmless, but they should be monitored, and a woman should check frequently her breasts in order to find and control the cysts

Fibrocystic breast is a condition that develops when fluid is not being evacuated fast enough from the breast causing cysts to form in them. These lumps move around the breast, grow and shrink, but they are benign.

.

Holistic Fat Remedies, ????? ??? ?????, ?????????? ???? ???????,

Olistica Rimedi Fat, Holistik Yag ilalar, Indian foods that cut Fat

??????, You don't have to acquire a taste for olive oil, seaweed or soya to maintain a low-fat, healthy diet. Indian cuisine can be healthy too, if it's cooked with oil and ingredients that take care of your heart and health.

Ayurveda suggests you include all tastes - sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent - in at least one meal each day, to help balance unnatural cravings. Here is GARLIC foods that can help you lose weight and gain health.

Turmeric : Curcumin, the active component of turmeric, is an object of research owing to its properties that suggest they may help to turn off certain genes that cause scarring and enlargement of the heart. Regular intake may help reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol and high blood pressure, increase blood circulation and prevent blood clotting, helping to prevent heart attack.

Cardamom : This is a thermogenic herb that increases metabolism and helps burn body fat. Cardamom is considered one of the best digestive aids and is believed to soothe the digestive system and help the body process other foods more efficiently.

Chillies : Foods containing chillies are said to be as foods that burn fat. Chillies contain capsaicin that helps in increasing the metabolism. Capsaicin is a thermogenic food, so it causes the body to burn calories for 20 minutes after you eat the chillies.

Curry leaves : Incorporating curry leaves into your daily diet can help you lose weight. These leaves flush out fat and toxins, reducing fat deposits that are stored in the body, as well as reducing bad cholesterol levels. If you are overweight, incorporate eight to 10 curry leaves into your diet daily. Chop them finely and mix them into a drink, or sprinkle them over a meal.

Garlic : An effective fat-burning food, garlic contains the sulphur compound allicin which has anti-bacterial effects and helps reduce cholesterol and unhealthy fats.

Mustard oil : This has low saturated fat compared to other cooking oils. It has fatty acid, oleic acid, erucic acid and linoleic acid. It contains antioxidants, essential vitamins and reduces cholesterol, which is good for the heart.

Cabbage : Raw or cooked cabbage inhibits the conversion of sugar and other carbohydrates into fat. Hence, it is of great value in weight reduction.

Moong dal : The bean sprouts are rich in Vitamin A, B, C and E and many minerals, such as calcium, iron and potassium. It is recommended as a food replacement in many slimming programmes, as it has a very low fat content. It is a rich source of protein and fibre, which helps lower blood cholesterol level. The high fibre content yields complex carbohydrates, which aid digestion, are effective in stabilising blood sugar and prevent its rapid rise after meal consumption.

October Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October

Every year the incidence of breast  cancer impacts hundreds of thousands of lives. Many times these cancers seem to hit without warning and are found only in a progressed stage. With current knowledge and medical ability, this does not have to be the case. Early detection is the key in effectively dealing with cancer.

Examining Your Breasts

1. Lie on your back, placing your right hand behind your head. Using your left hand, follow the motions in the chart below in examining your breasts. You should be feeling for any unusual thick or lumpy area. Repeat the process, switching hands, for your left breast.

2. Sit-up and begin to examine the area under the armpit. As archived by the National Library of Medicine, many may fail to realize that breast tissue extends under the armpit. Do not skip this step of examination.

3. Stand in front of a mirror and do a visual inspection of the breasts. You should look out for any unusual lumps, indentations, warping of skin, or odd changes in the shape of the nipple or discharged fluid.

If you observe any change that is of concern, set up an appointment with your doctor. When dealing with the possibility of cancer, there is no such thing as having irrelevant questions or concerns.

Breast Tissue Changes

The breast is composed of two main types of tissues: glandular tissues and stromal (supporting) tissues. The glandular tissues house the milk-producing lobules and the ducts (the milk passages). The stromal tissues include fatty and fibrous connective tissue. Any changes in the glandular or stromal areas may cause symptoms of benign breast conditions.

.

Some women experience changes to their breast tissue over their lifetime. These changes can include an increase in the number of breast cells (hyperplasia) or the emergence of atypical breast cells (atypical hyperplasia). In some instances, a portion of breast tissue that exhibits abnormal characteristics can eventually develop into a cancerous tumor. That is why physicians carefully monitor patients with abnormal breast cells, to ensure that if cancer develops at a later date, it is detected and treated early. Some patients with atypical hyperplasia may also be recommended to take the drug tamoxifen to help prevent breast cancer. While the appearance of atypical hyperplasia increases the risk of breast cancer, not all women with abnormal breast cells go on to develop breast cancer.

The following chart summarizes the typical progression of breast tissue from "normal" to "cancer:

குரல்வளை, Primary symptoms of Laryngitis : Home Remedies

Hoarseness, loss of voice, Throat pain,  Primary symptoms of Laryngitis. குரல்வளை வீட்டு வைத்தியம்

Laryngitis is the medical term for inflammation and swelling of the larynx, which is also known as the voice box. Most of the causes of laryngitis, such as common viruses infections or using your voice too much, are not serious. A few causes, however, require medical attention and can be cause for concern such as laryngeal cancer.

If the laryngitis is from a viral or bacterial infection, it is possible that the specific virus or bacteria can be contagious. However, if the laryngitis is from laryngeal cancer or overuse of the voice, it is not contagious.

Symptoms of laryngitis in adults

If the cause of laryngitis is infectious, affected individuals will have symptoms of:

  • Upper respiratory tract infection or cold
  • Dry cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Swollen lymph nodes (lymph glands) in the neck
  • Pain with swallowing
  • A feeling of fullness in the throat or neck
  • Runny nose
  • Loss of voice

Normally, voice is produced when air from the lungs is pushed past two side-by-side elastic muscles - called vocal folds or vocal cords - with sufficient pressure to cause them to vibrate. When the tumors interfere with the normal vibrations of the vocal folds, it causes hoarseness, which is the most common symptom of recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP). Eventually, the tumors may block the airway passage and cause difficulty breathing.

Because the tumors grow quickly, young children with the disease may find it difficult to breathe when sleeping, or they may experience difficulty swallowing. Adults and children may experience hoarseness, chronic coughing, or breathing problems. The symptoms tend to be more severe in children than in adults; however, some children experience some relief or remission of the disease when they begin puberty. Because of the similarity of the symptoms, recurrent respiratory papillomatosis is sometimes misdiagnosed as asthma or chronic bronchitis

Laryngitis Home Remedies

If the symptoms have been present for only a few days or occur immediately following an episode of using the voice more than normal, then the main treatment is to rest the voice as much as possible. It is imperative to over-hydrate the body by drinking a lot of fluids.

  • If the affected person has symptoms that suggest a virus is present, such as low-grade fever, cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, muscle aches, or feeling run down, then he or she should be sure to drink lots of fluids and take acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) for the symptoms.
  • Many people find inhaling steam, such as from a hot bath or shower, or a cool mist humidifier makes them feel better.
  • In all cases the affected individual shouldavoid smoking, areas where others are smoking, and avoid alcohol consumption.
  • Often times, these home remedies should cure the laryngitis or improve it significantly. However, if the home remedies do not make it better, then a doctor should be consulted.

Rheumatoid Arthritis : Natural Remedies

Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Exercise

There are a few recommended types of general exercises for arthritis (both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis) that are easy on the joints while providing circulation to the extremities and joints. Yoga, Tai-Chi, Qi-Gong and stretching are highly recommended if you can learn these exercises. If you are able to get to a public gym or yoga studio, that will benefit you greatly as others will be doing the same thing, and you will meet new friends and help keep each other on the right track. If you currently have limited time or mobility one of the best things you can do to improve not only your arthritis but your whole health and quality of life experience

.

Water and Arthritis

Did you know that there is a connection between the type of water you are drinking and arthritis? The PH (parts hydrogen, a measure of how alkaline or acidic water is) of tap water, reverse osmosis, distilled or even most bottled waters are extremely acidic. This acidity is a direct cause of inflammation in your joints (as well as your whole body), gout and in fact most illnesses!  This is not to mention the harmful bugs, pathogens, heavy metals, prescription medications, chemicals and waste products in that same water. No wonder most of the people in the “civilized” world’s health is so whacked out. If you are not drinking water filtered by a high quality (preferably ionized) filter, then you are selling your health and longevity short

Natural Remedies for Arthritis

Arthritis pain and inflammation has been traced to 3 main causes: wear-and-tear of your joints (also known as Osteoarthritis), maladaptive immune responses (Rheumatoid Arthritis), or infective causes (Septic Arthritis). Treating these and other arthritis types is best accomplished by treating the person, not the disease. Once you strengthen the person and bring them back to their proper balance, the symptoms of arthritis will wither as what was causing the arthritis is no longer there.

Common to all Chinese herbal mixes is dong quai, thought to be a plant estrogen. More plant estrogens that women have found effective in treating hot flashes over the centuries can be found in ginseng, evening primrose oil, licorice root, red raspberry leaves, sarsaparilla, spearmint, damiana, motherwort, chasteberry (also known as Vitex), black cohosh, and wild yams. These herbal remedies, Chinese and other, may be effective at reducing hot flashes but, again, their relative safety in women who have had breast cancer is not known. Avoiding, or using plant estrogens with great caution, is best, and never try them without telling your doctor. Gastro Esophageal Rflux Disease. Chronic Heartburn ; Video,Remedies

.    Don't worry, you won't die from it per se but you should know it is a symptom to possible heart problems. One of the more popular ones is GERD a.k.a. gastro esophageal reflux disease. In extreme untreated cases this painful symptom can lead to myocardial infarction, generally known as heart attack. An additional caveat is that most GERD sufferers are also asthma patients.

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES which will bring relief of heartburn include apples, cucumber, papaya, raw potatoes, lemons, watermelon, lettuce and bananas. Fruits and vegetables are water rich, which helps to dilute the acidic build up and they are rich in digestive enzymes, which will assist your body in digesting food which might be difficult to digest. If you make a decision to include these in your day to day diet, you will also reap the benefits of anti oxidants, vitamins and added fiber. A good and tasty idea would be to blend one or more of these fruits and vegetables into a smoothie. As one of the natural A, fruits and vegetables are available freely and cheaply. A much healthier alternative to over the counter medications.

Chronic Heartburn

If you are suffering from chronic heartburn, it might be due to your diet. Check and see if you have been overindulging night after night on food like pizza and tomato sauce casseroles. Have you been eating a lot of grapefruit or oranges? Citrus fruits cause heartburn in some individuals.

Have you been drinking more than your usual cups of coffee? Have you been going straight to bed after dinner? Many people get heartburn if they lay down immediately after a meal.

Changing and cutting back on the foods you have been eating and not sleeping immediately afterwards may be the key to helping you get rid of your chronic heartburn.

Eating smaller meals may also be the solution you have been looking for. Many find that eating a number of smaller meals instead of three large drastically help their heartburn.

What is Constipation, Herbal Remedies for Constipation, Remedies and How to Treat Constipation in Babies,

Constipation is a condition characterized by infrequent bowel movements dry, hard stools that are difficult to pass; an inability to move the bowels when desired; and abdominal discomfort.
It's estimated that one-third of all Americans contend with constipation on a somewhat regular basis. Lack of fiber, water, and exercise can precipitate constipation. Many medications also contribute to this condition. Regardless of how often constipation plagues you, there are herbal remedies that can help

 Herbal Remedies for Constipation

First of all, be sure to eat plenty of high fiber foods -- all the vegetables and fruits from your garden plus whole grains. Avoid refined flour products, processed foods, and all animal products, as they tend to be low in fiber. Fibrous root vegetables such as carrots and parsnips are bursting with this undigestible substance, especially the insoluble kind that sweeps the colon clean. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water each day and walking for 30 minutes may be all your sluggish colon needs to get back on track.
If that doesn't do the trick, laxatives might. There are two main categories of laxatives: Those that add bulk and those that stimulate contractions in the bowels.
The bulking laxatives are rich in fiber and mucilage that expands when combined with water. The increased volume in the colon creates natural contractions that push food residue through. Be sure to consume large quantities of water, at least 2 cups, with these high fiber laxatives. These are the preferred types of laxative, as they are not habit forming and do not generally make the colon dependent. Typical bulk-forming laxatives include psyllium seeds and husks, flaxseed, and fenugreek -- not common in a garden but widely available

Psyllium Seed

It can be bought in capsule or powdered form, depending on preference. The powder can be mixed with any fluid, although fruit juice is probably best in order to mask the earthy taste of the powder. One of the best constipation remedies, it works as a bulking agent, softens the stools, and helps to clear the intestines of blockages.

This plantain, contain a fibre called mucilage. Mucilage absorbs a great deal of fluid in the gut, the seeds swell and add bulk to the stool. The bulk presses on the walls of the colon, inducing the muscles to contract and the stool is passed. It is very important to drink at least eight full glasses of water a day, or the digestive track will become blocked and uncomfortable. Psyllium also removes the sticky mucus and toxins from the bowel. They reduce acidity and increase urine flow.

Linseed also known as flax, is rich in fibre and essential fatty acids and can be used instead of psyllium husks. Again for the seeds to work effectively it is important for you to drink at least 1/4 pint (150 ml) of water per desert spoon of seeds.

Senna contains a powerful natural laxative called anthraquinone. It is best combined with such things as ginger or cloves that will improve taste and prevent griping pains. Anthraquinone laxatives should not be taken over long periods of time as they are very strong, and you should not become dependent on them. Aloe Vera also falls within this category.

Rhubarb contains a natural laxative chemical. It is also high in fibre. Its laxative action can be pretty powerful. Liquorice in large doses can be a laxative. Olive oil has a mild laxative action and can lower blood cholesterol levels. Laxatives should never be abused. Use them for only as long as needed to let your body establish its own natural rhythm. Do not use constantly as you will become dependent on them and some may lose their potency as your body gets used to them. Always try to avoid harsh, artificial laxatives and use a natural one

Baby Constipation - It's heartbreaking when your baby is constipated.

Your baby hasn't had a bowel movement for 3 or more days - is this normal or is this constipation? Your baby's infrequent bowel movements are hard and dry - is this normal or is this constipation? Find answers to these questions and learn all about constipation and babies.

There are many causes of infant constipation. One of the most common causes of constipation in babies is the introduction of solid foods.

Common Causes of Infant Constipation are:

Introduction of solid food(s) - breastfed babies may be more prone to constipation when solid foods are introduced. This is because their tiny tummies are used to processing the easily and highly digestible mother's milk

        Diets low in fiber

Diets of excessive dairy products (yogurt, cheeses, milk)

Foods such as Bananas, Applesauce, Cereals, Breads, Pasta and White Potatoes may contribute or cause constipation

A change in diet usually relieves a baby with constipation. The following tips may also help the constipated baby get things "moving".

Remedies and How to Treat Constipation in Babies

There are many things you can do to help relieve baby's constipation. You can change baby's feeding pattern and/or engage in some physical exercises.

Exercises to Help Relieve Infant Constipation include:

Bicycle Legs - Place your baby on her back and lightly hold her legs in a half-bent position.  Gently begin to move your baby's legs as if she is riding a bicycle.  Alternate "Bicycle Legs" with Tummy Massage.  *"Bicycle Legs" also may help to relieve a baby who is gassy.
A Warm Bath - Some medical professionals suggest giving your constipated baby a warm bath.  The thought is that this may help relax baby and "get things moving" again.  Give a tummy massage as you are drying baby.

Herbal remedies, with their ancient healing histories, are natural alternatives to OTC's.

Benefits

  •
Herbal treatments for colds help the body naturally inhibit the growth of bacteria and viruses. There are herbs that treat the inflammation that accompanies colds and that act as expectorants to expel mucus from upper and lower respiratory tracts. The best uses of herbs are as preventative treatments. But, herbal remedies are available in the unhappy chance that you get a cold. Use herbs to boost the immune system, and to hydrate and fortify the body against colds.

Echinacea

More and more peeps are ditching over-the-counter medications and turning to  Herbal Remedities, which fight colds by stimulating the immune system or reducing symptoms. Check out on these herbal cold remedies.Echinacea, which is commonly known as the purple coneflower, is one of the top-selling herbs in North America. It's best known for its ability to boost the immune system. Unlike antibiotics, which kill bacteria, echinacea stimulates the production of white blood cells and makes your body more capable of attacking viruses and fighting colds, coughs, flu and other respiratory conditions.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon flavors your latte and sweetens your toast, but it's definitely more than a kitchen spice. It's been used medicinally for thousands of years in preventing infection and fighting poor circulation. The 12th-century German nun  Hildegaard of Bingen even recommended it as "the universal spice for sinuses" and a treatment for colds, flu, cancer and "inner decay and slime."

Ginger Root

Ginger is generally used to treat an upset stomach, but it also works well with the respiratory system. It fights colds by removing congestion, relieving sinus pain and clearing sore throats. Chinese herbalist discovered its useses 2,500 years ago, and have been using it ever since to treat various ailments.

Honey Lemon Tea

If you don't have any of these herbs lying around in your kitchen, then try making this simple tea. Squeeze the juice out of a lemon into a cup of hot water, and add honey to make it less sour. Herbal Cold and Flu Remedies

Lemon Throat Spray
Lemon is a traditional sore throat soother, and this handy spray can be put into a spray bottle of any size (look for travel-size spray bottles to take some with you when you're on the go) and stored in the fridge for up to two weeks. Combine:
  • 15 drops lemon essential oil
  • 5 drops peppermint essential oil
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
Add the ingredients to a spray bottle and store it in the fridge. Shake it before each use, using as often as necessary to soothe sore throats.
Sore Throat Gargle with Sage (or Hyssop)
Sage is another traditionally calming herb. We see it often in recipes for mouthwashes because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Here, it infuses a throat gargle. Hyssop leaves have many of the same properties, and would work in this recipe as well.
Boil one cup of distilled water and pour over one tablespoon of fresh sage or hyssop leaves (or one teaspoon of dried leaves). Allow the herbs to steep for 20 minutes. Strain the tea, and add 1/8 teaspoon of salt. Store in the refrigerator for two to three days, gargling whenever you need some relief from your sore throat.
Cold and Flu Herb Tea
If you're miserable with the cold or flu, and you're running a fever, this would be a good tea to try. Two or three cups of this tea will help you reduce your fever, relieve sore throats and congestion, and just generally make you feel comforted. If you don't grow them yourself, many of these ingredients can be found at health food stores.
  • ½ teaspoon yarrow flowers (Achillea millefolium)
  • ½ teaspoon elder flowers (Sambucus canadensis)
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint leaves
  • ½ teaspoon Echinacea root
  • ½ teaspoon Echisandra berries
  • 3 cups boiling water
Add boiling water to the herbs and allow them to steep for 20 minutes. Strain the herbs out and drink throughout the day. This mixture can be kept in the refrigerator and reheated as needed. Consider addinghoney and lemon juice for additional flavor and soothing.
Ginger Tea
Ginger is another traditional cold and flu remedy, containing at least a dozen antiviral compounds. You can use fresh or powdered ginger for this recipe.
To make the tea: add 1 heaping teaspoon of grated fresh ginger (or 1/2 teaspoon powdered) to 1 cup of boiling water. Allow to steep for ten minutes, then drink.
Herbal Steam Inhalations
When you're very congested, it is a relief just to breathe in the steam from a hot bath or shower, or put your face over a bowl of steaming hot water. It helps relieve congestion and sinus pressure. It is even more effective when you add herbs to the water. The easiest way to do this is to run some very hot water into your bathroom sink, and add some chamomile, eucalyptus, or thyme to a tea ball or tied up in cheesecloth. Lean over the sink with a towel over your head (to keep the steam in your little "steam tent") and inhale deeply for several minutes.
Echinacea Tincture
Echinacea is commonly sold in pill form to help you avoid cold and flu, as well as to recover more quickly when you do catch one of these illnesses. But an even more natural way to take this helpful herb is to make an herbal tincture with it. To make a tincture, simply fill a quart canning jar about 2/3 of the way with fresh Echinacea blossoms, then pour 80-proof alcohol (or apple cider vinegar -- it won't be as strong as the vodka solution will be, but it will still work) to fill the jar. Let it sit in a cool dark place for two weeks.
To use your Echinacea tincture, strain the mixture and store in a clean jar in the refrigerator. Add a teaspoon of the tincture three times per day to fruit juice, herbal tea, or water.
Essential Oil Vapor Rub
When I was a kid, I was sick all the time. I remember my mom applying Vicks Vapo-Rub to my neck and chest to help relieve congestion. Here is a natural version of that rub. Combine:
  • 10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • 10 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 3 drops thyme essential oil
  • 1/8 cup olive oil
Once the oils are combined, rub them over your throat and chest, then cover up to help increase the warming effect of the herbs. This is very effective when done right at bedtime, as it helps relieve congestion and allow you fall asleep easier.
I hope all of these herbal remedies help you get through cold and flu season a little easier. This list will also help give you an idea of which ingredients you'll want to have on hand for the next cold that comes your way.

Tips to Treat Colds and Flu the 'Natural' Way

With no cure in sight for the cold or the flu, current treatments can at best bring symptom relief or shorten the duration of those symptoms. You can take one of a variety of medications that may help relieve your symptoms. Or you can take the natural approach. WebMD went to Charles B. Inlander, president of The People's Medical Society, for some home remedies that may help you feel better along the way.
No. 1: Blow Your Nose Often -- and the Right Way
It's important to blow your nose regularly when you have a cold rather than sniffling mucus back into your head. But when you blow hard, pressure can cause an earache. The best way to blow your nose: Press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently to clear the other. Wash your hands after blowing your nose.
No. 2: Stay Rested
Resting when you first come down with a cold or the flu helps your body direct its energy toward the immune battle. This battle taxes the body. So give it a little help by lying down under a blanket.
No. 3: Gargle
Gargling can moisten a sore throat and bring temporary relief. Try a teaspoon of salt dissolved in warm water, four times daily. To reduce the tickle in your throat, try an astringent gargle -- such as tea that contains tannin -- to tighten the membranes. Or use a thick, viscous gargle made with honey, popular in folk medicine. Steep one tablespoon of raspberry leaves or lemon juice in two cups of hot water; mix with one teaspoon of honey. Let the mixture cool to room temperature before gargling. Honey should never be given to children less than 1 year old.
No. 4: Drink Hot Liquids
Hot liquids relieve nasal congestion, help prevent dehydration, and can soothe the uncomfortably inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat.
No. 5: Take a Steamy Shower
Steamy showers moisturize your nasal passages and relax you. If you're dizzy from the flu, run a steamy shower while you sit on a chair nearby and take a sponge bath.
No. 6: Use a Salve Under Your Nose
A small dab of mentholated salve under your nose can open breathing passages and help soothe the irritated skin at the base of the nose. Menthol, eucalyptus and camphor all have mild numbing ingredients that may help relieve the pain of a nose rubbed raw.
No. 7: Apply Hot or Cold Packs Around Your Congested Sinuses
Either temperature may help you feel more comfortable. You can buy reusable hot or cold packs at a drugstore. Or make your own. Take a damp washcloth and heat it for 55 seconds in a microwave (test the temperature first to make sure it's right for you.) Or take a small bag of frozen peas to use as a cold pack.

Cold symptoms often respond well to homeopathic remedies.

At the very first sign of a cold, take 1/3 tube of Anas barbariae (sold under various brand names, including Oscillococcinum), as directed on the product label, three times daily for one day. Then, during the acute phase of the cold, take one dose of one of the symptom-specific homeopathic remedies below three to four times daily for three days. If there is no improvement at all after three doses of a remedy, it is unlikely that it will do anything more. Switch to another that matches your symptoms and temperament. If you feel better before three days have passed, stop taking the remedy.
Suggested Dosage: Take 12c every two hours for a maximum of four doses.
Aconite is often prescribed when you have a barking cough, a burning sore throat, and a bitter taste that lingers in your mouth.

Eupatorium 12x or 6c is indicated when you have a severe aching deep in the bones and a feeling of being sore all over.
Euphrasia: If your eyes are the main focus of the cold, take Euphrasia 12x. This is for symptoms that are the opposite of those calling for Allium cepa. The nose runs a lot, especially in the morning, but without irritation. You complain of burning eyes and stinging tears, wink frequently, and wipe and rub your eyes. You also yawn a lot and prefer to be inside, away from sunlight and bright lights.
Gelsemium may help if you have chills, aching arms and legs, and fatigue, or if your throat hurts. you have heavy, droopy eyes; feel weak and tired, with aches and chills up and down your back; and want to be alone. (30x or 9c)

Menopause Symptoms

May occur with different frequency during the day depending on each particular woman. It's characterized by a feeling of warmth which spreads over the body, usually most pronounced in the chest and the head. When a hot flash event takes place you may experience flushing and perspiration. They can last from 30 seconds to several minutes. There is no prediction model to tell you when they will start. Up to 40% of women still going through normal periods in their forties have hot flash occurrences. 80% of the women will finish these occurrences after five years but for about 10% of women it can take up to ten years for them to disappear. There is no understanding yet of the exact cause for hot flashes, but they are likely caused by declining levels of estrogen in your body. These events occur during nighttime and may produce heavy sweating to the point of soaking your nightclothes even when your bedroom is at a pleasant cool temperature. Throughout the years of perimenopause, many women will experience them. Just like hot flashes, night sweats are the result of sudden increases in a woman's body temperature; the body temperature peaks and stays up for a little while and then returns to normal. When these events are frequent it can affect your quality of sleep making you feel tired during the day

.

Is it Dangerous?

Although this stage of your life will generate discomfort to you hot flashes, night sweats and mild irritability are not considered harmful by physicians and the good news is: They can be treated to ease their discomfort in a variety of ways, such as hormone replacement therapy, or plant-based phytoestrogens such as the ones present in EaseFemin*

Lifestyle changes.

A healthy diet and regular exercise program will go a long way towards minimizing the symptoms of menopause and helping to maintain overall good health. It is also a good idea to finally kick any old, unhealthy habits, such as smoking or drinking too much alcohol. Other interventions that may be helpful are to dress lightly and in layers and avoid potential triggers like caffeine and spicy foods. For vaginal dryness, moisturizers and nonestrogen lubricants such as KY Jelly, Replens, and Astroglide are available. Remaining sexually active may also help to preserve the lining of the vagina

Herbal Remedies for Menopause

Licorice has estrogenic effects and is successfully used to treat menopausal symptoms. Black cohosh, alfalfa, and red clover contain phytoestrogens, too. Hot flashes may diminish with the regular use of one or more of these herbs.
Eighty milligrams per day of black cohosh extract, taken in divided doses, is beneficial to some women. Oregon grape and dandelion root are two other herbs that some claim help to reduce hot flashes, but this has not yet been confirmed.
It was thought for some time that wild yam contained a substance similar to progesterone, a female hormone. Unfortunately, the compound it does contain cannot be converted into the needed hormone in the body. However, in the laboratory a progesteronelike substance can be made from wild yam and may be useful for retaining bone density and relieving symptoms. Other wild yam compounds and their actions may be of benefit to menopausal women.
Lignans, which are a component of fiber, also act as phytoestrogens. Lignans are found in flax, whole grains, legumes, and some vegetables.
The vegetables in your garden can also contribute loads of vitamin C and bioflavonoids, both of which may help relieve hot flashes. Although most vegetables contain some vitamin C, those with large amounts include broccoli, beet greens, peppers, parsley, salad greens, citrus fruits, melons, berries, and apricots.
Bioflavonoids are also usually found in foods high in vitamin C. For instance, the white membrane on the outside of a peeled orange and the whitish ribs inside a bell pepper are extremely rich in bioflavonoids. Be sure to eat them rather than throw them away. Berries, including some not normally cultivated in a garden, contain helpful flavonoids. Hawthorn berries, elderberries, and bilberries are all rich in this substance.
Vitamins A and E, aloe vera, and calendula are recommended to counteract vaginal dryness. A solution of calendula can be used as a douche.
Chinese angelica, or dong quai, helps to balance postmenopausal hormones. It, too, reduces hot flash symptoms. Use tea, extract, tincture, or capsules. A common dose is 3-4 g per day.
If insomnia is one of your symptoms, try drinking a soothing cup of chamomile and valerian tea an hour or so before bedtime.
Some women find that gamma-linolenic acid, an essential fatty acid derived from evening primrose, borage, or currant seed oil, helps ease them through menopause. Licorice can elevate blood pressure unless it is deglycyrrhizinated. Do not use Chinese angelica if you are pregnant or nursing or during menstruation.

  • Agnus Castus - best selling herb for menopause and periods
  • Dong Quai - another best selling herb for menopause and periods - has a centuries old reputation in the Far East
  • Gingko biloba - helps to allay 'brain fog' and counteract cold hands and feet
  • St John's Wort - great in keeping up the spirits, nourishing the nerves, and counteracting depressive tendencies
  • Red sage - recommended by many for 'keeping cool' during menopause
  • Motherwort - a 'forgotten' herb, strongly recommended by old herbalists for women - especially at menopause; for energy; and for the heart.
  • Cayenne pepper - which, surprisingly, can be used to help counteract hot flushes. For this purpose it is usually used in capsule form, so that sufficient can be taken to help.
The Natural Remedies For Menopause

Avoiding Stress

One important natural remedy for menopause is to avoid stress. This will help your hormones to stay balanced. Menopause tends to increase stress anyway; so avoid any extra stress you may be subject to.

For example, if you find you spend too much time thinking of others, plan to readjust this imbalance. Give yourself a break for half an hour a day, or half a day a week and do something just for you.

Yoga is one of the best natural remedies for menopause by itself as well as being a great aid to help you deal with stress in your life. Exercise also helps to reduce stress in your life.

Diet - One Of The Simple Natural Remedies For Menopause

Nutrition - one of the top natural remedies for menopause. Nutrition should be upgraded at middle age to help your body to produce adequate hormones to ease your way through menopause. For your nutritional needs, see a qualified nutritional therapist to get properly assessed for a 6 month or longer programme of nutritional therapy.

One natural food which many women have found beneficial to include in the diet is soya, or soy bean in its various forms. You can use tofu, which is produced by fermenting soya beans. Tofu is almost tasteless, so can be incorporated into any diet by judicious use. For example, it can be liquidized into soups or sauces as well as being cooked and served as a food in its own right. Or it can be fried in bite-sized portions and then included with salads. Flavour it with soy sauce, spring onion, garlic and/or fresh ginger

The Homeopathic remedy

FOLLICULINUM in LM potency, is the most beneficial remedy for general use in any woman during peri-menopause, menopause, post menopause, and after a hysterectomy or ovary removal (which causes premature menopause).  It stimulates the continuing natural production of estrogen by the ovaries and by the other organs which also make small amounts of estrogen including the adrenal glands, liver, and kidneys.. The LM potency was the last great development by Samuel Hahnemann and is, unfortunately, ignored by most homeopaths. LM's are the fastest, most gentle, and deepest acting of all potencies. They are taken on a daily basis.
They must be prepared for the patient by a knowledgeable classical homeopath because Folliculinum LM potencies are not available in pharmacies in the proper form for patient dosing.
